SEVEN BROTHERS FARM

We Grow Good.

Welcome to Seven Brothers Farm

We are the Blackwelder Family

In order from oldest to youngest there’s . . . Taylor, Beth, Brent, Jake, Aaron, Ben, Tess, Trevor, Bridger, and Lillie! And a few more including spouses.

Our connection to farming began with our sister Tess. Throughout her life, she bravely battled Cystic Fibrosis, spending much of her time in hospitals. But whenever she was discharged, our parents would ask her where she wanted to go—whether it was an arcade, the movies, or out for ice cream—anything was on the table. Without hesitation, she always chose to be with horses. Tess loved being outdoors, and riding brought her the greatest joy.

Tess passed away in 2007, just a few weeks after a memorable family trip to Colorado. We rode horses together in the mountains, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the warmth of each other’s company. It was a time when we all felt truly happy. After her passing, we bought the farm, seeking a place of peace and healing. It became our sanctuary—a space where we could grieve, grow, and stay connected to the things Tess loved most.

After a few years of caring for the land, we realized this place was too special to keep to ourselves. Slowly, the farm evolved from our private refuge into a place we wanted to share with others.

Student Farmers

A few years ago, we invited a handful of local high school students to get involved with our long-term farm projects. Word quickly spread, and before we knew it, the number of students interested in working on the farm grew significantly. Our goal is to give as many students as possible the opportunity to enjoy and learn from the farm as much as we do. To make this possible, we rely on community support through the purchase of a “share” in the farm.  Please click here to get more involved.

We’re thrilled for what promises to be our best summer yet, with several students joining us for the season. They’ll experience the entire farm cycle—from planting seeds and watching flowers bloom to planning events and overseeing vegetable and meat production. They’ll even handle accounting and marketing tasks, offering a glimpse into the realities of managing a small business. Our hope is that they’ll leave with valuable skills that will benefit them in the future.

At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to allowing our animals to live freely, basking in the sunshine and grazing across open pastures. Whether it’s a chirping chick or a majestic horse, every animal has a purpose here.

By combining our passions—caring for animals, producing farm-fresh food, and nurturing young minds—we’ve created a student-driven program where we share what we’ve learned and guide teens through the ins and outs of farm life.

We’re excited to share our journey and experiences with you!
